Small agricultural village, Châteauvieux offers a panoramic view of the sublime pre-Alpine landscapes and the highest peak of the Var, Mount Lachens (1714m)
In the high Var country, in a landscape of mountains and small valleys, this small farming village offers wonderful pre-Alpine landscapes. At the bottom of the village, the blue of the small lake contrasts with the golden yellow of the fields and the dark green of the mountain. Above the village, in the forest, the small chapel Saint-Pierre seems out of time. Built on the site of a 12th century Cistercian abbey, the Saint-Pierre is celebrated with dignity every year. Châteauvieux is also the starting point for many hikes. Don't miss the Cheese Festival in May.
The rustic fountain-washer is supported by a wall made of local rubble. Three tanks follow each other at right angles, the first being the fountain followed by the rinsing tank and the washing tank.

The chapel, dated from the 17th century, was built on the ruins of an old Cistercian monastery destroyed in the 14th century by armed gangs that were idle during the Hundred Years' War. It could date back to the 12th century.
Built in the 17th century, it was restored in the 1980s and 1990s.
The fountain is built of ashlar, with seven coping stones assembled with lead-sealed iron crampons.
La Gruppi, a communal inn, offers traditional cuisine and regional specialties with local flavors.
