The origin of Bauduen seems to go back to the Gallo-Roman period. The church, a very old building, was demolished by the Huguenots during the religious wars in 1572.
The origin of Bauduen seems to go back to the Gallo-Roman period. The church, a very old building, was demolished by the Huguenots during the religious wars in 1572.
On the same site, towards the end of the 16th century, the one that exists today and whose hemicycle is probably still that of the old church will be erected. At first this church had only one nave, the other two were built later.
The vault was built in 1830. In 1842, a marble altar was offered by Mr MICHEL MATHIAS ANDRE. The two naves were built after 1640.
The altar of Saint Lambert dates back to 1800 and is made of marble. Above it is an altarpiece representing the life of Saint Lambert (classified as a Heritage Site since 1992). Under the altar, an underground cellar contains the remains of a few priests, including: Mr ALLEMAND Jean de Bauduen (1653), Mr BENOIT Pierre de Bargemon (1772). In 1646, Mr. BEC Jean, lawyer, and Dame BARBAROUX, his wife, had the Mont Carmel chapel built.
In the other nave there are two altars: the purgatory altar (1747) and the Saint Joseph altar (1747). The confessional is made of walnut, very nicely cut. The baptismal font is made of white marble, enclosed in a renovated gate. The holy water font of the fine stone entrance of the country, is mounted on a column at the foot of which are carved the coat of arms of Bauduen, representing a key and a crescent moon in tribute to ATTATURC, who delivered the village from the invaders.
Two bells from the 12th and 14th centuries are classified as Heritage.
On 26 May and 13 September, the feast of Saint-Lambert takes place. A procession takes place before the mass and after it blessed "pullets" are sold. A convivial meal brings the people of Bauduen together!
