This church, placed under the name of Saint-Jean, became the parish church of Aiguines starting from the Renaissance.
It replaced the church of Saint Peter, situated above the current village, was the one of the Middle Ages. Its history is poorly known before the 17th century. Built as a size apparatus, it is Romanesque in style, although it may have been rebuilt in periods subsequent to the Middle Ages.
The building was restored in 1653 and 1750 and now houses a Christ on a cross above its altar, which once occupied its square. Made in the 16th or 17th century, the cross comes from a crossroads where is has been degradated by the weather.
